Extension (Multiple-Entry Visa)

Applications for a multiple-entry visa extension are accepted 30 days before the expiration of the current visa.

In accordance with paragraph 8 of Article 5 of Federal Law No. 115 of July 25, 2002, “an extension of a preparatory faculty student’s stay without leaving the Russian Federation for the duration of their studies, but for no more than 1 year, is possible upon presentation of a document confirming their enrollment in the preparatory faculty (certificate) indicating that the program consists of at least 2,160 academic hours.”

To extend a visa, the following documents are required:

1. Identity document, 2 copies of the document.

! Identity document requirements for this service:

  • validity period at the time of application — at least 18 months;
  • the document must contain at least 2 blank pages.

If these conditions are not met, you must contact your country's consulate to replace your identity document.

2. Two copies of the visa page.

3. Migration card, copy of the document.

4. Tear-off section of the notification form of a foreign citizen's arrival at the place of stay with a stamp from the Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on registration for migration purposes, copy of the document.

5. Study contract or referrals from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, copies of the documents.

6. Receipt for payment of the state fee for a multiple-entry visa (the receipt can be downloaded from your personal account — lk.rudn.ru). The state fee is 1,920 rubles.

7. Two photographs (size 3x4) on matte paper.

8. Copy of the fingerprinting document (green card).

9. Copy of medical examination certificates for foreign citizens (with a current date — valid for 1 year).

A reminder to extend your visa is sent to your mobile app via push notification and to your corporate email address at the following times before your current visa expires:

  • 90 calendar days before the visa expires
  • 60 calendar days before the visa expires
  • 30 calendar days before the visa expires

Visa processing at the territorial division of the Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is completed within 20 business days.

Important! Effective September 1, 2026, the rules for medical examinations of foreign citizens have been amended, increasing penalties for failure to undergo them. The medical examination period has been reduced to 30 calendar days from the date of entry into the Russian Federation (previously, this period was 90 days). Based on the results of the medical examination, a report will be issued, including in electronic form, and entered into the unified information system of the Russian Ministry of Health. If dangerous diseases or the use of prohibited substances are detected, medical organizations will be required to notify the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rospotrebnadzor within 24 hours so that a prompt decision can be made on deportation.

Increased Penalties: Refusal or evasion of a mandatory medical examination by a foreign citizen or stateless person shall entail:

- a fine of 25,000 to 50,000 rubles, with possible administrative deportation from the Russian Federation;

In case of failure to pay the fine on time - a fine in the amount of double the unpaid fine with mandatory deportation.

How to request this service?

STEP 1
Download the application “RUDN University” from App Store/Google play or through browser .

STEP 2
Log in with your RUDN ID account (corporate mail).

STEP 3
Go to “Services”, then “Multiservice Center”, then select “Visa Service”, then select from the list of services available for ordering “Visa Extension (Multiple-Entry Visa)”.

STEP 4
Download the receipt for payment of the state fee for visa processing.

STEP 5
Pay the state fee at the bank, print the receipt.

STEP 6
Apply for the provision of services and select a date for visiting the MFC RUDN University to submit a package of documents.

STEP 7
Apply to the MFC RUDN University to submit an identity card on the day appointed by the specialist (no pre-registration is required).

STEP 8
Apply to the MFC RUDN University to obtain an identity card with a new multiple-entry visa on the day appointed by the specialist (no pre-registration is required).
