April 23-24, International research and practice conference “I Firsova’s readings. Present cross-cultural communication problems” dedicated to professor Natalya Mikhaylovna Firsova, leading Russian hispanist, academician of the International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philological Sciences, was held at the foreign languages department of RUDN University Philology faculty in association with the Institute of Linguistics of Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Latin America of Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Academy of Professional Development and Re-training of Educators. Such scientist of world-wide reputation as Guzman Tirado R., Doctor of Philological Sciences, Slavic department professor of the University of Granada (Granada, Spain), Elenevskaya M.N., Doctor of Philological Sciences, Humanitarian sciences faculty professor of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel), Chelysheva I.I., chief research worker and head of the Department of Indo-European languages in Russian Academy of Sciences made reports at the conference. Conference “I Firsova’s readings. Present cross-cultural communication problems” was organized for the purpose of discussing latest developments in linguistics, cross-cultural communication, contrastive linguistics, sociolinguistic investigations and methods of language teaching. It is important both for science development and for current practice.
