Most Effective: RUDN University Announces 2025 Academic Ranking

RUDN University has announced the most effective scientists for 2025. The traditional academic ranking, which has been conducted since 2023, identified the leaders in three key categories: “Most Cited Scientist”, “Leader in the Commercialization of Research and Development”, and “Best Grant Manager”.

An expert committee assessed the scientists' performance based on objective quantitative indicators: citation indexes, the amount of funding raised, and success in implementing their research in the real economy.

Most Cited Scientist

Winners were determined based on the highest average citation score for publications from 2022 to 2025. Milena Skvortsova, Associate Professor in the Physics Department at the Institute of Gravity and Cosmology, won the Natural Sciences and Engineering category.

Olga Lomakina, Professor in the Foreign Languages ​​Department at the Faculty of Philology, won the Social Sciences and Humanities category.

Leader in Intellectual Property Commercialization

This category assessed the amount of funds raised from the commercialization of intellectual property (IP) in 2025. The winning team was a team of authors from the Engineering Academy with their invention, "Method for Generating a Dust Flow for Mechanical Interaction with Orbital Space Objects."

  • Yuri Razumny (Head), Director of the Engineering Academy;
  • Sergey Kupreev, Professor, Department of Mechanics and Control Processes;
  • Vladimir Razumny, Senior Researcher, Scientific Center for Integrated Research and Efficient Development of Subsoil;
  • Oleg Evgenievich Samusenko, Head of the Department of Innovative Management in Industrial Sectors.

Best Grant Manager

The winners in this category were determined based on the amount of funding attracted to the university in 2025. Winners were selected in three areas:

  1. Fundamental Sciences: Vadim Molodtsov, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Medicine. His research, funded by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation, is focused on developing an antibiotic for the treatment of mycoplasmosis.
  2. Applied Sciences: Viktor Andreev, Associate Professor at the Scientific and Educational Institute for Physical Research and Technology. His project is dedicated to the development of multifunctional plasma systems (in collaboration with Rosatom State Corporation).
  3. Business Contracts: Elena Savenkova, Director of the Institute of Ecology. The absolute leader in the volume of scientific and technical services provided. The key project was a student survey of traffic flows in 41 industrial centers of Russia as part of the federal Clean Air project.

At a meeting of the new RUDN University Dissertation Council in the specialties of 2.1.12 “Architecture of Buildings and Structures. Creative Concepts of Architectural Activity” and 2.1.11 “Theory and History of Architecture, Restoration and Reconstruction of Historical and Architectural Heritage”, three postgraduate students — Natalia Kalinina, Evgeny Ogienko, and Yulia Loginova — were awarded PhD degrees in Architecture for the first time in the university's history.
