Electromechanical Model of Cardiac Muscle Tissue with Mechano-Electrical Feedback
Many heart diseases are associated with arrhythmias of various nature. For a deeper understanding of the causes of arrhythmias formation and conditions of their persistence, as well as for the development of accurate personalized models that could be applied in medical practice, a detailed model of myocardial electromechanics is needed. Such a model should consider the interconnections of processes of various nature, and, if possible, be quite simple from a computational point of view. RUDN mathematicians present a prototype of the electromechanical model of the myocardium, in which the description of the electrical activation of the cardiac muscle by a simple Aliev-Panfilov model is coupled with a new model of myocardial mechanics developed by the group of the report author. The simulation results for the appearance and propagation of spiral waves of the action potential in deformable myocardium are shown. The effects of mechano-electrical feedback taken into account and introduced at the levels of the cell and tissue are demonstrated.
XXXII Russian National Congress “Man and Medicine” was held in Moscow, a key event for the medical and pharmaceutical community. Pavel Murzov, an assistant professor at the Department of Pharmacy Management and Economics at RUDN University, became the winner among thousands of participants. He presented a study on the rational use of Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) in pediatrics.
Senezh Management Workshop completed the fourth module of the Management Talent Pool Development Program in Science, Technology, and Higher Education. The only participant from RUDN University was Alexander L. Chupin, PhD in Economics, Deputy Dean for Research at the Faculty of Economics.
On February 6-7, RUDN University hosted an international scientific and practical conference “Modern university mission in the context of transformation challenges in a multipolar world”. The event was timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the founding of RUDN University.
