On a par with eminent Russianists. Philology students of RUDN University spoke at the International Scientific Symposium in Vladivostok

On a par with eminent Russianists. Philology students of RUDN University spoke at the International Scientific Symposium in Vladivostok

In October, the Far Eastern Federal University hosted the International Scientific Symposium “Russian Grammar in the Dialogue of Scientific Schools, Trends, Methods”. Students of the Faculty of Philology Angelina Shaposhnikova and Kristina Golovatova became the only students in the section “Grammar in the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language” who received the right to speak on a par with eminent experts. Angelina and Kristina shared their impressions of the scientific trip to Vladivostok.

“The use of documentaries about nature for the formation of speech competence in teaching Russian as a foreign language”

For students who study Russian in their own country, documentaries about nature become a clear example and visualization of the reality of Russia. Only a documentary film from all other video materials (feature films, cartoons, etc.) is a carrier of a competent, clean, artistic language.

Angelina Shaposhnikova suggested a technique for working with the film “Bears of Kamchatka. Beginning of life”. Documentaries combine both linguistic and cultural material. She made a plan for work, identified language units and suggested types of practical after-view work.

“The week was fruitful — it gave ground to new ideas and reflections, introduced the teacher of Russian as a foreign language to the other side. From the speech of Chinese Russian teachers, we both learned about the difficulties of a teacher who is not in the country of the language being studied.

Conferences are an integral part of a student’s professional development, because research surrounded by scientists brings more experience and knowledge than memorizing books. We get acquainted with actual science, its current ‘experiences’ and Personalities. Kristina and I talked to Gordana Naumovich, learned about the peculiarities of teaching Russian as a foreign language in Serbia, and rediscovered romances. It’s an amazing feeling to be on the eastern edge of Russia and talk with a teacher from another country, which is thousands of kilometers away! ”, - Angelina Shaposhnikova, Philology, III year.

Supervisor — Svetlana Aleksandrovna Deryabina, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of the Russian Language and Methods of its Teaching.

“On the formation of linguoculturological competence with the help of song material in the classroom for Russian as a foreign language”

Kristina Golovatova examined the didactic and linguocultural potential of songs that can be used in Russian language classes for foreigners. She analyzed educational complexes that use song discourse. She proposed methodological development of exercises for the expansion of socio-cultural knowledge, the formation of skills and the development of intercultural communication skills.

The songs have a didactic and linguocultural potential for Russian as a foreign language. But the functions of the songs remain incompletely disclosed: the criteria for selecting song material have not been developed, there is no single set of exercises, and practical possibilities for the parallel study of another foreign language have not been identified.

“This is my first trip to a face-to-face scientific conference. It is difficult to describe the spirit of professionalism, mutual understanding, goodwill, openness in communication with teachers and students of other universities.

We were the only students in the audience, the rest were teachers. I was surprised with what interest we were listened to and what kind of discussion began after the speech. I was happy to participate in the discussion.

It was a wonderful experience that allowed me not only to look at a completely different part of our beautiful country, but also to share my own results of my scientific work,” Kristina Golovatova, Philology, III year.

Supervisor — Valeria Vladimirovna Ivanova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of the Russian Language and Methods of its Teaching.

In 2017, RUDN University scientists constructed a new explicit second-order precision difference scheme using modern computer algebra methods for 2-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) [1]. This year, our mathematicians used a new scheme [2] to construct a numerical solution to the Cauchy problem with initial data (for t=0) as satisfying the continuity equation. Scientists managed to achieve previously unattainable accuracy of the continuity equation.

Color against inattention – how students and teachers at RUDN University and Altai State University created an app for children with ADHD

There are approximately 1,600,000 children in Russia with confirmed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The necessary therapy is not always available to their families due to cost or the lack of specialized centers nearby. Teachers and students at RUDN University and Altai State University have developed a special app for these children that increases attention and reduces anxiety using the color photostimulation method.
