RUDN dentists developed a program that will accelerate the work of an orthodontist by 40%

Today, diagnosis and treatment planning with orthodontists takes several days. Also, complications can arise during treatment that slow down the patient's recovery process. For example, improper orthodontic treatment planning can lead to temporomandibular joint dysfunction.

“Scientists at RUDN Institute of Digital Dentistry have created 3D software for orthodontists, which will accelerate the doctor's work by 40% and conduct thorough digital planning of the entire treatment. Based on the data uploaded to the system, the program will automatically diagnose, identify possible complications, build a treatment plan, and create a clear and intuitive presentation for the doctor and patient. The program also predicts the duration of treatment, for example, how long it will take to wear braces or aligners, and helps visualize the final result for the patient”, Apresyan PhD, Professor, Director of the Institute of Digital Dentistry of the RUDN Medical Institute, Honoured Inventor of the Russian Federation.

There are a large number of orthodontic programs, however, many functions, including, for example, modeling occlusal overlays at the stages of ordotontic treatment, are the author's developments of RUDN scientists.

The computer program is registered with Rospatent. Certificate of Registration No. 2024681396

The role of fungi in maintaining tree diversity has been unraveled – a global study involving scientists from RUDN University

Forests are not only the lungs of the planet, but also home to millions of species. However, it has remained unclear how underground interactions between trees and fungi affect forest species richness in different climatic conditions. Previous studies have yielded conflicting results: in some regions, the dominance of certain fungi reduced tree diversity, while in others it increased it.
